Lugat
Also called: liogat, llugat
The lugat is the Albanian undead, a violent night creature that hides wherever sunlight never reaches. It can only be dealt with when it is lying in its grave, where it is burned. One proposed etymology derives the name from a Latin phrase meaning 'false wolf', linking it to the werewolf-vampire overlap found across the Balkans. It is little known outside Albania but belongs to the same family as the vrykolakas and the Slavic vampire.12
